(ECNS)--An emergency escape system designed for use in high-rise buildings was unveiled in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. If a fire breaks out, people can glide down through the stairwell at a speed of around 1 meter per second using a special railing that can bear the weight of a 100-kilogram person. The emergency exit also has respirators to protect evacuees from poisonous dust and gases.
