(ECNS) -- A "Rage Room" opened in Beijing's Chaoyang District recently. All kinds of old items arranged on a shelf are used to let off steam.
The store offers assorted equipment including a helmet, jumpsuit, gumboots and baseball bat. It costs about 200 yuan (about $30) for one session.
After the session, users get a photo as a souvenir.
Some clients said they face heavy stress in daily life and can't find a proper way out. This way of releasing stress seems to work.
"I am starting a business. I have a car loan, credit card bills and rent to pay every month, so I feel very stressed and sometimes can't sleep at night," said a customer surnamed Wang.
"After smashing things here, I feel great. I can release some negative energy in a reasonable way.
And I hurt no one close in my life and don't get angry with them easily, " said another customer surnamed Zheng.
"After I smash things here, I don't feel a headache or pain in my leg, plus I worked up a sweat," said a customer surnamed Tian.
But some customers said the Rage Room can't solve practical problems. The idea is good but the cost-effectiveness is not.
"I smashed the bottles and also bought a mannequin for about 300 yuan. The price for the service is high, but the idea is not bad," said a customer surnamed Liu.
"I want to smash an item, but sometimes I can't destroy it, so I get angrier. After smashing something, I still have to face my problems and this is bad," said a customer surnamed Zeng.
"More than 15,000 bottles were smashed in December, 2,000 at most on a single day. We received 780 customers in December. From the beginning till now, we have had 1,500 customers who smashed 50,000 to 60,000 bottles," said the store owner Jing Meng.
"The very purpose of this service is to not advocate violence. We want to provide a safe space for people to let go of their negative energy," she added.
