An engineer from Baidu Brain has incorporated AI into a cat shelter.
The four-level shelter has a camera at the entrance that only opens the door when it recognizes the approaching animal is a cat.
The AI could also trigger the heating and ventilation system after monitoring temperature and humidity as well as air quality in the shelter.
The shelter's facial recognition software can also report on cats' state of health.
Wan Xi, the creator, aimed to provide homeless cats a warm and safe place in winter.
It took him half a year to put his thoughts into this model.
He hopes the model could be widely used for more stray cats.
