(ECNS) -- An explosion ripped through a chemical plant in an industrial park in Yancheng City, east China's Jiangsu Province on Thursday, killing 44 people.
Thirty-two people were fatally injured, 58 were critically injured, and 640 received medical treatment at hospitals nearby.
Schools around the plant have suspended classes.
