(ECNS)-- Two oriental white storks have been spotted at Beijing's Shahe Reservoir.
The birds have been spotted in Beijing before, but it is rare to see them so near downtown.
The population of wild oriental white storks worldwide is less than 3,000. It is a Class-I state-protected animal in China.
The two storks have been here for nearly a week, according to local villagers.
Oriental white storks are winter migratory birds. Beijing is an important transfer station on their migration.
