China's first Mars simulation base has opened to its first batch of explorers in Gansu province.
Mars Base 1 Camp covering a 67-square-km area has nine interconnected modules.
It allows visitors to feel as though they are on the red planet.
More than 100 teenagers were invited to explore the place.
Li Qinglong, one of China's first batch of astronauts, termed the landform and facilities as very similar to reality.
The base, aimed to further scientific research, will open to the general public in future.
