(ECNS)--Puppets not only play the erhu, but also write calligraphy in Liancheng puppetry.
Liancheng puppetry originates from the Qing dynasty (1636–1912) in Fujian Province.
Artist Li Mingqing has been studying Liancheng puppetry for 41 years.
In the late 1980s, puppetry began to decline. Li then added innovations to puppetry such as writing calligraphy to attract audiences.
In recent years, Liancheng County has established a Puppetry Art Training Center to cultivate young students.
