Nobel Laureate Tu Youyou announced that her team has found treatment to artemisinin resistance.
As the winner of the 2015 Nobel Prize for the discovery of artemisinin,Tu said that the drug resistance has remained a big challenge to fighting malaria.
Tu said prolonging the period of taking the medicine, or replacing the partner drug, could solve the problem.
Her team also found that artemisinin has a special effect in treating lupus erythematosus.
WHO praised their research work as “groundbreaking, outstanding and immeasurable".
