(ECNS) -- Piles of white, pillowy foam are seen along the shores of Yuncheng salt lake in Shanxi Province on Tuesday.
It is a phenomenon unique to salt lakes. When crashing waves create bubbles in salt lake water, the bubbles rise to the surface but do not disappear like those in freshwater lakes.
These white bubbles are mainly composed of minerals and organic matter, which pose no harm to humans or the environment.
