Hainan province, a popular tourist destination, is getting support for its nightlife, as the government develops local markets that boost the "night economy."
In the capital city Haikou, night markets are always open from 4 p.m. to 3 a.m.
In 2018, the turnover of large-scale night markets reached less than $56 million in Haikou.
Over 30 night markets are distributed in the city. They consist of food stalls, restaurants, cinemas, KTV, chess and card rooms, and cafes.
Native cuisine and the local people are a magnet for foodies from many nations.
