(ECNS) -- Huzhong District, located in the northeast corner of Heilongjiang Province, is known as the "coldest town" in the country. The temperature there dropped to minus 40.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
Huzhong District registers an annual average temperature of minus 4.3 degrees Celsius and has reached a lowest temperature of minus 53.2 degrees. Both are the lowest recorded in China.
