(ECNS) -- Lit up sentences like "Wuhan Jiayou (Wuhan, Stay Strong)" and "China Jaiyou (China, Stay Strong)" are displayed over Second Yangtze River Bridge each night to encourage local residents.
They are attributed to young electric engineer Wu Rui who has been on call from Jan. 21.
He has lived alone in a prefabricated room under the bridge since his colleagues returned home for Spring Festival.
The 27-year-old engineer is in charge of over 20 controllers scattered across 1,876 meters of the bridge.
He said he is guarding not only lights, but also hope and spirits.
