(ECNS)--Passionate pupils play football at Wawu Primary School, 2,700 meters above sea level.
The mountain school is located in Abingluogu Village of Zhaojue County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, an area once ravaged by poverty.
For those students, football is no mere sport but a bridge connecting them to the outside world.
40-year-old Qubishigu, the only certified teacher at the school, started work here in 2003.
He retrieved children who dropped out of school from door to door and renovated the classroom.
He considers the introduction of football as means allowing students to see beyond the mountain.
The school got new campus and a football field thanks to charity donation.
In 2017, Qubishigu led the school's football team on a tour of the big world.
