(ECNS)--Around 500 wild Asian openbill storks have been seen foraging and frolicking at a local wetland in Yunnan Province.
Dozens of wading birds, greyish or white with glossy black wings and tails, arrived here last December.
Instead of migrating back, they have stayed and attracted more companions.
Local forestry officials have since enhanced protective measures.
Asian openbill stork appeared in the province for the first time in October 2006.
