(ECNS) -- Subway QR codes in Beijing and Shanghai are now interchangeable.
People in Beijing can use the Easy Pass app to take subways in Shanghai,
while Shanghai residents can scan QR codes in the Metro app to access subways in Beijing.
The interconnection encompasses all urban rail routes and stations in both cities (except suburban railways).
It makes cross-city transit more convenient and prompts people to choose green transportation.
More Chinese cities are expected to adapt the interconnection between subway QR codes.
