(ECNS) -- The ascender of China's Chang'e-5 probe that carrying the country's first lunar samples was sent to the scheduled lunar orbit at 23:10 on Thursday (Beijing Time).
This represented the first-ever Chinese spacecraft to take off from an extraterrestrial body.
The ascender will dock with Chang'e 5's orbiter-reentry capsule combination, and transfer the lunar samples to the reentry module and then wait for the right time to return to the Earth.
