(ECNS) -- A rare winter mirage appeared in Kumtag Desert in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regionon Jan. 11.
This mirage was 40 kilometers long and 20 kilometers wide.
With temperatures rising, the mirage grew to its largest extent at about 2 p.m. and gradually subsided at about 5 p.m.
The mirage is related to local weather, humidity and temperatures, according to a local meteorology engineer.
