(ECNS) -- Police and the Forestry Station in Chongming District of Shanghai rescued an upland buzzard on Jan. 10.
This is the first time the national second-class protected animal has been recorded in Shanghai since 1943.
The upland buzzard, a species of bird of prey in the family Accipitridae, is the largest species of the Buteo genus.
The total length of the upland buzzard is 57 to 76 cm.
They inhabit in mountains, foothill plains, grasslands and other areas.
They mainly feed on rodents, frogs, lizards, hares, snakes and other animals.
