(ECNS) -- A Chinese research team has completed a deep-sea exploration with a bionic soft robot, which also realized free-swimming at a depth of 10,000 meters.
The research, jointly conducted by researchers from Zhejiang University and Chinese research institute Zhejiang Lab, was published in the journal Nature.
Based on a snailfish design, the bionic deep-sea soft robot has achieved two key technological breakthroughs.
It has a soft-hard fusion machine system adapted to deep-sea hydrostatic pressure and a new type of dielectric elastomer actuator suitable for deep-sea high pressure and low-temperature environments.
The research team will continue to study the integrated system of energy, drive and perception of deep-sea software intelligent equipment to improve the intelligence of bionic deep-sea soft robots in the future, said Li Guorui from the Zhejiang Lab.
