(ECNS) -- Liu Xiuyun, a female police dog trainer in the police dog training detachment of the Criminal Investigation and Drug Control Bureau of Shenyang Municipal Public Security Bureau, has worked for 10 years and trained 3 police dogs.
Her current charge, Leo, is a springer spaniel who specializes in sniffing out explosives. Sometimes, Leo needs to be taken care of like a child, Liu said.
Leo once developed a kennel cough in winter, grew feverish and suffered a runny nose. Liu put her quilt on Leo's bed to keep him warm.
To avoid Leo spitting out the medicine, Liu held him until he fell asleep. Leo's main tasks include searching for explosives in vehicles, bags, venues, etc.
He will carry out security checks and explosive disposal work around 100 times a year. Leo will accompany Liu to complete more tasks in the future.
