(ECNS) -- The first vehicle production base of XPeng Motors in Zhaoqing, Guangdong, has reached the efficiency of 30JPH, or 30 electric vehicles per hour.
Such production efficiency is equivalent to that of the second phase project of Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory, which has a production efficiency of 29 JPH, according to professional auto media.
Most of the assemble lines in this production base have adopted automation. With five production departments and 326 artificial industrial robots in total, the production base has a flexible production capacity for four types of vehicles along different platforms. Its design production capacity is 100,000 vehicles per year.
Founded in 2015, XPeng Motors has set up seven factories at home and abroad in six years and was listed on New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) last August.
XPeng Motors has injected dynamism into Zhaoqing, the old automobile parts production base in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area.
The New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) industry of the Bay Area is fast accelerating its overall upgrading, with cooperation and competition between Chinese and foreign auto enterprises to further ameliorate the layout of the local NEV sector.
