(ECNS) -- A 160km/h embedded maglev transportation system was unveiled in Chengdu, Sichuan Province on Thursday.
Compared with other urban rail transit systems, it performs better in terms of top speed, acceleration and climbing ability, turning radius, etc.
It can also save over 30% in construction and operation costs. It has covered a mileage of over 7,000 kilometers in tests with indicators like suspension control, pulling ability and power supply system. Targeted tests must be carried out according to diverse situations across varying track lines.
A total 169km/h marks the highest speed of medium and low speed maglev trains on a 3.6- kilometer-long track line. Suspension control, the core technology of maglev trains, is independently developed by China.
Maglev train has been proved to be safer, more reliable, more resilient to harsh weather and quieter, according toJian Lian, an engineer.
As a breakthrough in transportation, it is more environmentally friendly, more economical and intelligent. Some passengers who came for a test ride said the advanced technologies it has adopted made the experience very comfortable.
