(ECNS) -- The Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar has experienced peak tourism during the May Day Holiday this year.
Located in Urumqi, the bazaar displays tourism products and serves as a window into Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
People arrive at the bazaar whether they take self-driving tours or go by plane to Xinjiang.
The tourist line "Turpan-Urumqi (Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar)-Tianchi" is connected by the G30 Lianyungang–Khorgas Expressway, also a typical route for travelers. Pedestrian streets form the most popular area of the bazaar.
Two streets running east to west and north to south intersect at a stage, where dancers in traditional Uygur costumes perform to upbeat music.
"We have expected to visit Xinjiang for a long time and the May Day Holiday is a great opportunity. Ethnic characteristics are strong here. Various products, especially local specialties, dazzled my eyes," said Lin Yuan, a traveler from Liaoning Province.
The Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar is home to over 3,300 stores, with more than 6,000 employees.
"We have been well-prepared for the May Day Holiday, such as making sufficient supplies and offering economical discounts for travelers. We see the trend of tourism rebounding and believe the May Day Holiday this year will be a tourism peak period. The future will be better," said Fang Chao, head of pedestrian streets of the bazaar.
The rapidly developed expressways in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region provide convenient access for road-tripping tourists.
"There are lots of expressways here. We usually take self-driving tours nationwide. It is interesting, but Xinjiang is so vast that we had high expectations," said Lin Yuan, a tourist from Liaoning Province.
