(ECNS) -- Stricter measures will be adopted on the north slope of Mt. Qomolangma to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Isolation lines will be set up at the summit, according to authorities at the Tibet Autonomous Region on Sunday.
Recent COVID-19 cases at the Qomolangma Base Camp in Nepal have raised transmission concerns.
Isolation lines will be set up at the summit, according to local authorities of Tibet Autonomous Region Sunday. Therefore, the Tibet Autonomous Region Sports Bureau decided to set up isolation lines on the summit, banning contacts of climbers and their belongs between the north and south slopes.
The south and north slopes of Mt Qomolangma are different climbing routes. To hold back the spread of COVID-19, we will focus on the summit.
We will send guides to the summit to set up isolation lines there, said Nyima Tsering, director of the Tibet Autonomous Region Sports Bureau.
