(ECNS) -- Three companies were given permits to run unmanned delivery vehicles on designated open roads in Beijing on Tuesday.
E-commerce giant JD.com, online service company Meituan, and autonomous driving vehicle producer Neolix received ID numbers for their vehicles before other companies.
At the initial operation stage, an on-site driver and a remote driver will be arranged for each test vehicle. A driver will become qualified after strict training.
About a hundred unmanned delivery vehicles are available in the Beijing high-level autonomous driving demonstration area. The unmanned delivery vehicle operators will conduct express deliveries, catering, and retail business in the demonstration area.
More unmanned delivery vehicles will be added to the Beijing market to serve people in the future.
