(ECNS) -- As of 6 p.m. Thursday, the wild Asian elephant herd had moved 7.4 kilometers to the southwest, and continued to linger in Shijie Township of Yimen, Yuxi City. The male elephant, which had strayed from the herd 12 days ago, is located about 18.8 kilometers to the east.
According to local authorities, elephant activity now started earlier in the day and showed more daily movements.
Local authorities are closely monitoring the herd and its migration route to ensure safety for both villagers and elephants.
