(ECNS) -- A 70-percent intact dinosaur fossil with cervical, back and tail vertebrae found in Lufeng City, Yunnan Province in May has been unearthed for further recovery and study.
Its skeleton belonged to a sauropod dinosaur, about 8 meters long and 3.5 to 4 meters high, according to researchers.
It is speculated that the dinosaur accidentally fell into water or was trapped in a mire and buried underground.
To save the rare find from getting weathered and damaged, local researchers began excavating immediately after they got information from fossil lovers.
Lufeng, a county-level city in Yunnan, has discovered over 100 dinosaur fossils and other paleontological fossils of different numbers.
With 25 genera of 38 species of dinosaur fossils named already, Lufeng is known as "the land of dinosaurs."
