(ECNS) -- "Zhongbao No. 1," a high-yield and high-quality hybrid kelp variety, has been approved by China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
The new kelp variety has a wide algal body, suited to cultivation in the seawater off Liaoning, Shandong and other provinces. Large-scale application of "Zhongbao No. 1" would better promote the industrialization of improved kelp varieties across China.
The kelp was jointly developed by the Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Dalian Haibao Fishery Co. Ltd.
