(ECNS) -- A rare takin appeared in the Gahai Lake in Luqu County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, south Gansu Province, according to the local nature reserve staff.
The takin in the video was found strolling in the lake, sometimes grazing with its head down, and sometimes staring at the distance in a trance.
Takin is huge in size and looks odd, like a strange combination of cow, sheep and horse.
As the national first-class protected animal, takin is rare, with only a few thousand in China, mainly distributed in the southwest and northwest of China.
It is infrequent that a takin showed in Gahai Lake.
