(ECNS) -- The first units of the Lianghekou hydropower station built in Southwest China's Sichuan Province along the middle and lower reaches of Yalong River were put into operation on Wednesday.
It is China's highest altitude megawatt hydropower station.
The hydropower station has a total installed capacity of 3 million kilowatts and a storage capacity of 10.8 billion cubic meters.
After completion, it can reduce raw coal consumption by 13.3 million tons and carbon dioxide emission by 21.3 million tons per year.
