(ECNS) -- The accumulative output of the Fuling field, China's first large commercial shale gas project, has exceeded 40 billion cubic meters as of Friday, creating a new record.
The Fuling field, discovered in 2012, is now the sixth-largest natural gas field in China as well as one of the important gas sources of the Sichuan-East Gas Pipeline.
At present, the field produces nearly 20 million cubic meters of gas per day, which could meet the gas demand of 40 million households -- equivalent to three times the total number of households in Chongqing.
