(ECNS) -- More than 300 artworks including Qipao (also known as cheongsam) and Manchu costumes were displayed in Shenyang on Tuesday.
Qipao, a classical Chinese dress of Manchu origin, is known for its classic beauty and tailored silhouette that accentuates the curves in all the right places.
Well-known Qipao designers and intangible cultural heritage inheritors were invited to showcase their collections at the exhibition.
Qipao from Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the Republic of China (1912-1949) and modern varieties all reveal the development history of Qipao culture.
Traditional Qipao was not comfortable and practical, thus hindering its development, said Gong Hangyu, a Qipao designer.
Therefore, Gong incorporated foreign fashion concepts into Qipao, improving on its style, pattern and craft to lure more consumers.
