(ECNS) -- Qiongkulebexi Village, only 10 minutes from downtown Kashgar, is becoming popular among tourists seeking to experience local culture.
To develop tourism and attract more travelers, the local government has refined the operation and management of guesthouses, offered special handicraft training, and guaranteed regular training assessment, etc.
The village has built two lanes displaying folk customs, having customized different consumption items for tourists.
At present, each guesthouse host earns about 7,500 yuan (about $1,171) a year, said a local official.
Kashgar has been an important trading center on the ancient Silk Road and is a multi-ethnic city.
Kashgar is about 1,500 kilometers from Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang, about the same distance between Beijing and Shanghai.
