Ski Jump Platform for 2022 Winter Olympics to keep 'flying in the sky'

(ECNS) -- After the 2022 Winter Olympics, the Shougang Ski Jump Platform will be permanently reserved for future use, according to an official at Beijing Major Projects Construction Headquarters Office.

As the only snow competition venue in Beijing for the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics, the platform will witness four gold medals contested during the games.

The design of the platform draws inspiration from the "flying in the sky" fairy images in the Dunhuang murals. The curve of flying ribbons and the track of the platform fit perfectly. Therefore, the platform has been nicknamed "Xuefeitian" or "Snow Feitian," which means flying in the sky in snow. Ambient lighting installed in the track has earned the venue another name, the "Crystal Shoe."

The venue will host the Big Air Snowboarding and Freestyle Skiing competitions during the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
