(ECNS) -- The Meizhou Bay cross-sea bridge, a part of the Fuzhou-Xiamen high-speed railway, was joined together on Saturday.
The 277-km Fuzhou-Xiamen cross-sea high-speed railway is the first of its kind in China, with a designed speed of 350 km per hour. It will halve travel time between Fuzhou and Xiamen to one hour.
The bridge is about 14.7 km long and the main bridge has a span of 180 meters, according to its builder.
It is China's first extradosed cable-stayed bridge on a sea-crossing high-speed railway.
