(ECNS) -- Zhou Zhongzhen, 64, was carving a series of winter Olympic paintings on eggshells Friday.
He is an inheritor of egg carving, an intangible cultural heritage in Luannan County, Hebei Province.
Carrying on his family craft, Zhou has been immersed in the craft for more than 40 years. Known as a fingertip art, egg carving combines painting and sculpture.
"Our country is going to host the Winter Olympics, so I create works based on the event with egg carving. I hope to use Chinese traditional handicrafts to spread our pioneering national spirits through the Olympic Games and send my best wishes to the event," Zhou said.
