Young people 'experience' elderly life in Shaanxi Province

(ECNS) -- In a matter of moments, a young and strong person can be turned into a doddering old man. The Yanta District Elderly Service Development and Guidance Center in Xi'an offers such an experience service for young people. The service is called "When You Are Old," and is designed to help people understand the needs of the elderly.

A young man is putting on a simulation suit with gears attached around his limbs and joints. When he walks, the straps on the clothes are tightened, making it difficult for him to stretch and move.

He has to wear noise reduction earplugs and macular glasses to feel the inconvenience of elderly people. This sense of powerlessness has guided many young people to reflect on the way they get along with the elderly.

This center has established a university and volunteer team to attract more elderly people to study and do voluntary work. It has also built an intelligent platform, collecting and summarizing data of elderly care services in the district and even in the whole of Xi'an city. With this platform, elderly people can enjoy high-quality one-stop service without leaving home.

The Yanta District Elderly Service Development and Guidance Center is located in the southern suburbs of Xi'an and is the first elderly service complex in Shaanxi Province, integrating daily care, food, therapy, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and lessons catering to elder people's interests.
