(ECNS) -- The 7th "Enlightenment Upon Sight" Tibet Thangka Art Exhibition kicked off in Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region, on Wednesday.
Divided into two parts - Traditional and Contemporary, the exhibition presents iconic works by 78 artists painted with superb skill. The works feature Tibet's new look, natural scenery, Tibetan medicine, religious figures, etc., attracting lots of visitors.
Thangka, a kind of scroll-banner painting, is unique to Tibetan culture. Since painters have to get extremely close to the canvas when painting, it is often referred to as "the art closest to the tip of the nose".
