(ECNS) -- Wei Manchun, a 36-year-old female villager from Jiangxi Township, Nanning, has attracted more than 100,000 online followers since she began filming her dancing in May, 2020.
Wei decided to teach herself dancing after developing a passion for a classical dance at a village gala for International Women's Day in 2018.
"I began to learn dancing through watching online videos. I used to struggle with certain movements no matter how hard I tried. My body was too rigid. Then I decided to learn basic dancing skills via videos, including flexing my leg muscles and bending. I've become more supple and can dance better now," said Wei Manchun.
Wei always squeezes in a dance while busy with farm work. Dancing makes her confident. Her more than 200 dancing videos capture her in the kitchen, fields, or at construction sites, etc.
"I've feel very fulfilled and have become more confident since I started dancing. I used to be so timid," said Wei.
Wei gathered her fellow villagers to learn dancing in their spare time. In 2018, she founded a team of 10 people and led them to perform at various festivals.
She wants to show people the real country life, said Wei.
In 2021, Wei was hired by the local township-level government to work for rural construction, which gave her more chances to contribute to regional revitalization.
Though more occupied than before, Wei has not given up shooting dance videos, hoping to shed light on her life in the country.
