(ECNS) -- People of Dong ethnic group, together with tourists, attended new year celebrations in Liping County, Guizhou Province, during Friday and Sunday.
Dong people held parades in fancy traditional costumes, made glutinous rice cakes and sang folk songs.
The Dong New Year, or Winter Festival, is the most ceremonious of Dong people and a festival for family reunion and bumper harvest.
Dong people also show their unique culture during this festival.
November 1 of the lunar calendar was set as the Dong New Year in the early 1980s.
The festival was included in the third batch of national intangible cultural heritage list in China in 2011.
