(ECNS) -- China's farthest offshore wind farm was connected to the grid and started power generation in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province on Wednesday.
Dafeng offshore wind power project, the farthest of its kind, has a total installed power generation capacity of 300 MW.
It can generate about 900 million kWh of electricity annually and meet the annual consumption of 370,000 households.
The 220kV submarine cables stretch 86.6 kilometers, with the farthest offline wind turbine extending 82 kilometers to the coast.
It will see carbon dioxide emissions cut by around 760,000 tons, when compared with a same-sized thermal power plant.
