(ECNS) -- A China-Laos freight train departed Ganzhou International Land Port in Jiangxi Province for Vientiane, capital of Laoson on Wednesday.
It is the first China-Laos freight train in Jiangxi Province.
The maiden train carried daily necessities, electrical appliances, and apparel. It is expected to arrive in Vientiane in about five days.
The freight train has provided a new channel for international economic and trade exchanges between South China and Southeast Asia. Travel time is expected to be shortened by 50 percent than that of via maritime routes, significantly reducing land transport costs between Vientiane and Ganzhou.
