(ECNS) -- China's railway authorities have upgraded the 12306 train ticket booking system and developed functions special for the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Accreditation Card holders serving the event and spectators can book train tickets from January 21 to March 16 via the 12306 official website www.12306.cn, App and self-service tickets vending machines.
The Accreditation Card holders refer to those who serve the 2022 Winter Olympics, including journalists, service staff, volunteers, etc. They should log on for certification first, and choose destinations such as Taizicheng Station in the system after certification or reserve their seats accordingly. Their booking information will be showed on the interface. Then they can take the corresponding trains by scanning QR codes, said Zhang Zhiqiang, a staff member of China Academy of Railway Sciences Corporation Limited
Spectators can also book tickets via this system as long as they submit information when booking, including the Olympics ticket number, games and their personal information which are necessary, etc.
The CARS has developed English-edition interface for foreign passengers and will provide some English voice services.
The train ticket vending machines have installed a travel document reader, allowing passengers from foreign countries, Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, and Taiwan Province to book tickets using passports, travelling permits, etc.
"Considering some foreign tourists have never been to China before and have no available bank cards in China, we have developed the function of paying by foreign bank cards, which means that international credit cards and bank cards like VISA and JCB can be used," said Zhang Xi, a technician of CARS.
