(ECNS) -- To deliver a green 2022 Winter Olympics is one of Beijing's promises, therefore, multiple measures have been taken to lower carbon emissions to the greatest extent.
A screen inside the National Speed Skating Oval shows data of the "Winter Olympics Carbon Measurement" platform, the "brain" that calculates relevant real-time information on energy consumption and carbon emissions inside the stadium.
The "brain" can predict all carbon emissions during the upcoming Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
The platform was designed and developed by a team composing experts from the Beijing Institute of Technology, National Speed Skating Oval, Tsinghua University etc.
In addition, more than 30 advanced low-carbon technologies and measurements have been adopted for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, which is expected to cut the overall carbon emission by around 950,000 tons. The team also built a "Zero-Carbon House" using environmental-friendly materials. And it is powered by wind power and solar photovoltaic power, leaving zero carbon emission.
