(ECNS) -- A 100-megawatt photovoltaic (PV) power generation and storage program is under construction in Yarkant county of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
The program will annually generate an average 180 million kWh of electricity, saving 80,000 metric tons of standard coal.
Construction started in October 2021, with a 100-megawatt ground-mounted, centralized PV power station and a set of 15MW/30MWh centralized energy storage systems to be built.
All engineering construction will be concluded by early April this year. Trial operations for the power plant will begin this June.
