(ECNS) -- Wuchuan County in Hohhot City, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is known as the "hometown of oat flour in China".
The flour is a nutritious whole grain flour made from oats. Its nutritional value is more than 7 times that of other flours. It is a specialty in Hohhot, and can be steamed or fried.
Oat powder can be made into noodles for mutton or vegetable soup seasoned with pepper and garlic, which is very popular among locals.
Wuchuan County has developed an industry of oats-based cuisine covering processing plants, exhibition halls, gourmet shops, and intangible cultural skills training centers. With oat flour as its pillar industry, the county realized poverty alleviation in 2019.
