(ECNS) -- Staff members of the Chongqing Branch of the China National Hybrid Rice R&D Center transplanted rice seedlings in an experimental field on Monday.
Chongqing has expanded its giant rice plantation scale to 60 mu (about four hectares) to further test the indicators of giant rice.
A total of 15 mu of giant rice shoots with a height of about two meters in a village in Chongqing embraced a big harvest in 2021, with a yield of over 800 kilograms per mu.
China's "Father of hybrid rice" Yuan Longping once said he hoped to "enjoy the coolness under rice crops taller than men." Although he has passed away, his dream has come true.
The Chongqing Branch of the China National Hybrid Rice R&D Center was established in July 2021.
