Key project of offshore extra-heavy oil put into operation in China's Bohai Sea

(ECNS) -- The first phase of the world's first offshore thermal recovery development oilfield project of extra-heavy oil was put into operation in Bohai Sea on Saturday.

The proven reserves of unconventional heavy oil in Bohai Sea oilfield exceed 600 million tonnes, accounting for 14.5 percent of the total proven geological reserves in the sea.

The operation of this project will facilitate the output goal of 40 million tonnes of crude oil in Bohai Sea oilfield.
