Online medical consultation, medicine order service available in Wuhan

(ECNS) -- Online consultations have become an available choice for more and more patients against the background of COVID-19.

More than 1,820 doctors from 62 specialties of Wuhan Union Hospital have provided online medical consultations and medicine order service for patients via its online internet hospital platform.

Medical consultations, prescriptions, psychological counselling, home care guidance, medicine delivery, and electronic medical record download are available on the platform.

Besides, inspection list, test report, admission card and other necessary lists can be issued online too.

Chen Shu, Head of the outpatient service office of Wuhan Union Hospital, said: "Patients who need to pay subsequent visits to doctors can upload their treatment results onto the online platform so doctors could prescribe and deliver their medicine."

Currently, the online hospital is suitable for the diagnosis and treatment of common and chronic diseases out of medical safety, not for patients who consult for the first time, or those with critical illnesses, colds or fever, said Chen.

According to Chen, in 2021, there were more than 220,000 online consultations on this platform.

Chen Shu, Head of the outpatient service office of Wuhan Union Hospital, said: "We are stepping up to achieve online medical insurance settlements to save patients more money."
