(ECNS) -- An earthquake relief drill with simulation of diverse scenarios being used was held on Wednesday in Ganzhou District, Zhangye City, Gansu Province.
In this drill, part of the road at the Pingshan Grand Canyon scenic spot in Ganzhou District was blocked due to a 7.5-magnitude earthquake.
A tourist trapped in the bottom of the valley sent out emergency distress signals.
After on-site reconnaissance, the canyon spans about 140 meters and is about 90 meters deep.
Rescuers choose to cross the ridge of the canyon to transfer the trapped on the north ridge.
"Little Flying Man", a high-end equipment, has played an important role in high-altitude transportation and rescue as well as in narrow space rescue during the exercise.
This equipment weighs 15 kilograms and can carry 260 kilograms.
It can help two people ascend or descend and its unique control system can easily transfer the wounded from any height to the ground safely.
This exercise aims to test the rescue capacity, emergency response and collaborative cooperation of diverse departments as well as the actual application of the newly-developed high-end equipment.
